If This Couch Could Talk takes the audience on a nostalgic journey through the past 50 years, exploring how urban life has evolved - one decade at a time - through the eyes of an unexpected hero: a humble couch. From its debut in the stylish 1970s home of newlyweds Margie and George, to becoming the centrepiece of a teen sleepover in the 1980s, to its grungy stint with a garage band in the 1990s, our couch weathers it all. In the 2000s, it offers comfort through a share-house breakup, while in the 2010s, it supports a gaming-obsessed teen. Finally, in the 2020s, it finds itself in a sixth home, caught in the middle of a young couple’s long-distance relationship. With each passing decade, the couch remains constant - a silent witness to the joys, struggles, and changes of urban living.
