Principal Message

I was extremely thrilled and honoured when I was offered the position of Principal at Korumburra Secondary College in 2018. Originally from New Zealand, I too attended a rural high school. I remember my years there extremely fondly. I enjoyed a great education with teachers who knew me well. Although the community did not have a lot of resources, we were encouraged to be “Paeroa Positive” and proud of where we lived.

Prior to arriving at KSC, I was the Principal at Neerim District Secondary College for four years. During my time at NDSC, the school was able to boast high growth in Reading and Writing, excellent Student, Staff, and Parent Opinion Data, and outstanding VCE results.

I am passionate about State Education, teaching and learning, and student and staff wellbeing. In addition to my teaching qualifications, and a Masters in School Leadership. I also have a Graduate Diploma in Psychology, and am a keen writer of young adult fiction.

In my time at Korumburra Secondary College, the students, teachers, staff, parents, and community have worked hard to improve and achieve outstanding VCE results. In 2019, we made the Herald Sun’s most improved list for VCE results. We have faced several challenges, including our move to remote learning in Term 2, 2020. Our students’ strong work ethic, outstanding parental support and dedicated teachers saw us approach this change with grit and determination.

Over the past five years, the staff have been working hard to develop and implement an Instructional Model. The KSC model identifies effective teaching practice and makes explicit to students the goals of each lesson or groups of lessons. It allows teachers to design activities which are engaging to students and which best meet students’ learning needs.

The Korumburra community, KSC staff are determined to make KSC the best school in South Gippsland. We constantly strive to be innovative, and forward thinking. We are passionate in our goal of serving the Korumburra community and supporting all our students to be the best they can be.

Finally, we welcome prospective parents and students, and encourage you to take the virtual tour of our school on this website. To our current students and parents, thank you for your continued work and support as we continue to ‘aim high.’
